Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.

The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.

It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Measurement Approach Updates

Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Required Changes

A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
